In 2002, the Orange Mound duo, Da Volunteers, released their debut album, “Da Game.” Their fierce determination and drive for perfection produced their sophomore album, “Gunz and Rozes”, released on July 27, 2004, independent in over 20 states and distributed by Selecto-hits. To date, over 20,000 copies of both albums, “Da Game” and “Gunz and Rozes” have been sold. On "Gunz and Rozes", Da Volunteers showcase their versatility and broad range of hip-hop styles.
In Murder Dog magazine, “Gunz and Rozes” received 4 out of 5 mics and in Streetmasters magazine, it ranked 13 out of 16 songs as hits. One may ask, “What is the theme of Gunz and Rozes?” Simply put: the gunz are for the fellas and the rozes are for the ladies. Songs like “We Da Truth” and “What U Watchin Me 4,” are the gunz. In December 2005, Da Volunteers, featuring V-Squad, released their mixtape, Da Bandwagon, with the hit singles Strawberry 22's, Favorite Color, and Upper Room.
