Who would have ever thought that a small town in Tennessee would have such a great impact on today's musical landscape. Memphis has bred some of hip-hop's influential MC's, Academy-Award winning Three 6 Mafia, 8-Ball & MJG, and Young Buck. This is also the birthplace of Mista Ian, yes this town has cultivated a bevy of talented artists, but Mista Ian is not just another rapper from Memphis, he's an intelligent entreprenuer, with the perfect blend of street credibility, business acumen, and musical talent. His first installment in the music business came when he released a single featuring Three 6 Mafia and Tela and was summoned to produce 8 tracks for Yo Gotti's first independent album, which went on to sell over 50,000 copies, quickly establishing Mista Ian as one to watch on the southern music scene. This opportunity led to Ian forming a group, Rap Hustlaz, comprised of him, Yo Gotti, and Kia Shine.
They garnered enough buzz to secure a distribution deal with TVT, however, once their contracts were fulfilled, the group members decided to pursue solo careers. Armed with impeccable ambition, understanding of the business, and an undying love for the art, Ian set out on a radio promo tour, resulting in his songs playing in over 10 major markets. While promoting the single and music video for "Out the Frame," yet another chance to work with industry elite arose and Ian didn't hesitate to achieve it.
